A wonderful old stone farmhouse, which has recently been renovated to the highest standard, Middleholms is a comfortable, spacious home in a large garden on a hill, with fabulous views East across the Esk valley and North towards Langholm, the ‘Muckle Toon’. Accessed by a long private drive, the property is totally secluded, sheltered by woodland on the South, and surrounded by farmland. The house is full of character, and a perfect place for families and friends to relax; in fact it is such a special, peaceful place to visit, that it will be hard to leave at the end of your stay. You will enjoy cooking in the fantastic, open-plan kitchen with its Aga, bespoke hand-painted wooden units and granite worktops; or unwinding or dining in the huge conservatory, where you can enjoy the garden and views, whatever the weather.

The sitting room with its wood burning stove, plasma TV and surround-sound offers entertainment for the evenings and damp days whilst the separate barn provides a great Games room complete with table tennis, additional TV and the cosiness of a wood burning stove and sofas. In the fine weather the lovely garden with its stunning views is the perfect spot for a BBQ and meal outside.

Middleholms is located in the middle of Eskdale, which with its majestic, unspoilt landscape, is one of Scotland’s best kept secrets, perfect for walking, cycling, fishing, bird watching etc. The area is full of history and interesting places to visit; Hermitage Castle, Hollows Tower from where you can follow the Border Reivers trail, the birthplace of Thomas Telford, and Kagyu Samye Ling, the first and largest Tibetan Centre and Buddhist monastery in Britain.

Langholm, birthplace of the poet Hugh MacDiarmid, is a vibrant town with its own brand new arts venue - the Buccleuch Centre with regular concerts and events, a nine hole golf course, an annual Music and Arts festival and a walking festival. In the winter rugby and football can be enjoyed most Saturdays. Most notably, Langholm’s great day, the Common Riding, takes place annually on the last Friday of July every year. The Esk is a famous fishing river and permits can be arranged in season. Cycling, walking routes are locally available.
