A simply wonderful location on the west side of the Isle of Arran makes the House of Machrie a truly excellent holiday house for families who like a mix of comfort and elegance as well as the great outdoors. Set on its own, this lovely house built in the 19th century, looks across fields and golf courses to the sea shore and the Mull of Kintyre beyond. This is a very comfortable and traditional yet elegant house with bright spacious rooms, lovely antiques, plenty of space and a real sense of charm. A lovely stone steading has been converted to provide the bonus of a large games room complete with billiards and table tennis or even room for a dance. There are three bedrooms on the ground floor and the remainder are on the first floor with all bedrooms being extremely comfortable. There is plenty of public space too, with a wonderful bright sitting room with open fire, a family/TV room as well as a conservatory/sunroom and a separate dining room. The kitchen is fairly traditional but good sized and well equipped. The views across to the sea are beautiful and this is a lovely house for a family holiday

Arran is a magical island and on Dougarie Estate you have the ideal spot to enjoy the island yet also benefit from the sense of peace, wonderful walks on the estate and the seashore nearby. The ferry journey is an adventure in itself and sets the scene for the holiday. If you enjoy golf you are in for a treat as Arran has a choice of 7 different courses. There are fantastic walks, beaches, mountains, and a wide variety of scenery to enjoy. The estate has a sea boat for fishing or lobster potting (by arrangement) as well as a small spate salmon river and a loch which you can fish by arrangement. There is a pretty garden and walks up across the estate or down to the shoreline (crossing small road).

There is an additional cottage completely separate but a short walk away which sleeps 5 which can be rented for larger parties and a further estate house High Dougarie Farmhouse is also available to rent.
