Converted from a 19th century underground ice house and originally associated with an historic salmon fishing station, this beach side holiday house is both unusual and original, with its grass roof, vaulted ceilings and glass frontage. A contemporary and stylish finish compliments a real feeling of luxury and comfort, and the owner has made every effort to make this a wonderful holiday experience.
The open plan living room has a bright sunny kitchen and dining area with french windows allowing uninterrupted views over the patio to the dunes of the nature reserve and the sea beyond. The room then extends back into the hillside, and its stone walls, pine floors and wood burning stove provide a delightfully cosy ambience, ideal for relaxing with a good book and a dram. A mezzanine level provides extra space for a sofa bed and office area.
The ground floor bedrooms both have french doors opening out to the patio, one with en- suite, whilst the master suite, on the upper floor, in addition to an en-suite, has a wonderful nautically themed single bedroom, making this ideal for families. Solar panels provide hot water and under floor heating in the kitchen and bathrooms, both of which have top of the range appliances and décor.
Outside there is a lovely patio area which looks out to the dunes and is complete with a fire pit and stone bench “wired for sound”, and an outdoor heated shower, ideal for washing the sand off from the beach, which is only a 3 minutes walk away. Enjoy the peace and quiet either as a family or alone in this idyllic and unique holiday cottage surrounded by the beauty of the Angus countryside.
