Ormidale House is a truly magnificent, beautifully maintained historic house surrounded by an impressive 20 acres of mainly wooded private grounds. This fabulous large holiday house is just above the Kyles of Bute, and has its own lochan, river, and waterfalls making it an utterly unique location. Ormidale has been available to rent for three seasons now and it is not hard to see why it is one of the most popular holiday properties we have.
Together with the two newly renovated stone barns which are presented for the first time in 2009, the estate now offers 4 star standard accommodation for up to 55 adults and 70 guests in total. The original house was built in 1696, with a wing designed by Sir Robert Lorimer added in 1900, and it was once a seat of the Clan Campbell.
The property boasts excellent accommodation with a full size snooker room, a play room, two TV rooms, a breakfast room, a dining hall which seats 24, and a formal dining room with an open fire.
Ormidale House is perfectly suited for large parties and offers a luxurious break in stunning surroundings. The garden and grounds are the work of the renowned Victorian landscape gardener Thomas Mawson of Kendal and include extensive lawns, shrubbed terraces, and a lovely south-facing sun terrace with a Historic Scotland Grade “A” listed Sundial. Guests can walk for an hour within the house's own gardens, and have direct access into the forests and onto the mountains. You don’t even have to get into a car as the surrounding countryside is so wonderfully diverse and incredibly is all on your doorstep. A variety of outdoor sports of the highest quality including sailing, fishing, shooting, and stalking are available locally.
This corner of Argyll is fabulously well-served by excellent restaurants with Invercottage, the Colintraive Hotel, An Lochan, The Oyster Catcher, and the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar all offering great food and drink in stunning locations.
The house comes with the added convenience of a dozen bikes, four sets of golf clubs, fishing rods, and other outdoor equipment so you don’t have to bring your own. The large garden has been extremely well thought out and features an outdoor children's play area, ideal for small children to play safely in, a large trampoline, croquet lawn, separate football pitch, BBQ and midge machine! For 2009, guests in this marvellous property will also have access to a swimming pool and a new tennis court. The pool is shared with residents of the Old Barn and the Mill House; guests in the main house have two hours of exclusive use during the day and access for all bar the four hours reserved to guests in the other two. This impressive large house comes highly recommended and offers guests everything they could possibly need for a relaxing and fun packed Scottish holiday.
