If you have a taste for luxury, seclusion, glorious scenery and all mod cons, then Ballimore House is for you - complete with its own heated indoor swimming pool and gymnasium, Ballimore has everything you could need for a great holiday no matter what the weather!
This beautiful house sits quietly 1 ½ miles up the estate track (readily passable for cars but not low slung sports cars) and its history goes back to the 11th century when the McCorquodale Clan lived here and the castle ruins are still visible today. The modern lodge now in its place gives you all the luxury you need whilst also respecting this stunning environment for the house has a wind turbine to provide electricity, reed beds, private spring water and multi fuel stoves. The house is a light, bright space with spacious rooms and many French doors around the house so you can make the most of the outdoors all the rooms have a wonderfully high quality finish. The kitchen/dining/sitting area is a delight – extremely spacious and with stunning black slate worktops and French doors to the gardens. There is also a library/TV snug complete with its own wood burning stove on the ground floor. The master bedroom is a delight – exceptionally spacious and with its own dressing room, fantastic bathroom with freestanding roll top bath and wet room shower and French doors to garden. Upstairs the sitting room takes full advantage of the glorious views which surround the house as well as a charming deck area where you can sit and enjoy a quiet drink whilst absorbing the peace and spectacular landscapes.
The swimming pool is fully heated (though you can rent the house at a reduced rate without the pool and gym) and is a two lane training pool but wonderful fun for all ages.
The area has a wealth of activities not least the spectacular scenery that there is in this part of Argyll. There is a small loch with boat where you are free to fish (lifejackets not provided) as well as many acres of glorious walks. Nearby there is horse riding and the sea is only 20 minutes drive at Oban were you can enjoy the clean water of the west coast and try sailing or canoeing. Ben Cruachan, a Munro offers a day’s walking and nearby Loch Awe is famous for its large brown trout.
